HGA have proudly produced their very first Godello wine from Rias Baixas under the Altos de Torona brand. Production is around 15.000 bottles in a good year however due to a small harvest the 2017 vintage is of just 10.000 bottles.

Altos de Torona is 100% Godello and the wine is aged on fine lees for 6 months . HGA Bodegas own 2 hectares of Godello in their Altos de Torona vineyard which is located in the O Rosal sub-region of Rias Baixas. They are currently the only winery to make a 100% Godello within the Appellation  and they boast that this wine has a double personality. On the one side, on the nose it’s an Albariño typical from the O Rosal area, that has hints of pineapple, peach, apricot, maracuya, minerality and refreshing acidity. On the other side, in the mouth it’s a Godello which is more famous for being lean with hints of white pepper, and a more subtle acidity compared with the Albariños typical of the region.

The typical region for Godello in Galicia is the Apellation of Origin Monterrei and Vadeorras so this Godello represents the terroir from Rias Baixas and particularly O Rosal area.

Brand new and definitely worth a try!
