Pembroke Wines hosted a very good tasting in Dublin on 22 October 2018.  Oakley Wine Agencies were there supporting two of our winery partners from Dao, Portugal and Rioja, Spain.

The first of the wineries was Boas Quintas, who are producing characterful, elegant wines with an abundance of terroir.   The cool nights and fresh mornings of the region have given the wines a stylistically light and fresh profile, with fantastic acidity, fruit and aroma.  The wines on show were Gandarada white (Encruzado, Cercial branco, Malvasia Fina) and Gandarada red (Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz).  Customers commented repeatedly about what exceptional value the wines offered, and Portugal as a whole…

The second winery was Rodriguez Sanzo, run by Javier Rodriguez, an innovative winemaker working bio-dynamically, and always experimenting with a variety of oak vessels including box tanks, barrels with staves on the inside, and using American, French and Hungarian depending on the style he wants to achieve.  On show at the tasting were Lacrimus Joven Rioja (100% Tempranillo), and the Lacrimus Crianza (85% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano), both were extremely well received by the customers at the tasting.  The joven was showing exceptionally with the beautiful red fruits perfectly balanced with a kiss of American oak.
